About
This nonprofit website aims to spread knowledge, sources, and a working timeframe of the history of medieval Europe to both those with a love for the Middle Ages and those just starting their journey into medieval studies. This timeline is meant to be comprehensive and in depth and therefore is always a work in progress. If certain points appear incomplete or missing, please be patient as I am constantly updating the timeline and its information. It is important to understand that the Middle Ages, like all historical periods, are defined by inherently arbitrary dates assigned by and often disagreed upon by historians, both contemporary and past. The dates determined as the start and end dates of the historical periods within this timeline have been based upon the sources used to help me construct this website and my current understanding of the Middle Ages, stemming from my education at the University of Connecticut. This website offers full access to the various sources used under the bibliography section, accessible from the home page. When possible, in text citations will offer direct hyperlinks to the available online sources in the form of [X]. In situations with multiple available online references for the same information, the in text citations will be in the format that follows: [X-I] [X-II] [X-III] etc.
About the Author
This nonprofit website was created by Alexander DeLorio, an aspiring historian with a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Connecticut. As a full-time student and full time worker, I often spend my limited free time doing the things I love, such as hiking, reading, practicing new languages such as Latin, Spanish, and Russian, and learning about all kinds of interesting topics such as history, astronomy, geography, and anything else I can get access to. This website was made by myself with the inspiration of various historians such as Chris Wickham and the amazing faculty of the history department at the University of Connecticut.
